Angels 7, White Sox 7

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen trotted out what could be his Opening Day lineup on Monday night against the Los Angeles Angels.

The White Sox put on a show against an Angels split squad, though the game ended in a 7-7 tie after nine innings.

Guillen on Tuesday is expected to announce the 25-man roster that will head north to Chicago for the start of the regular season. The only question appears to be the number of pitchers the White Sox will keep.

``Like I said (Sunday), in my mind I have the ball club,'' Guillen said, ``but I need to hear from other people.''

The White Sox spent the evening working on their game strategy, too. Guillen had his players in motion on hit-and-runs and attempted steals. Andruw Jones and Alexei Ramirez each stole a base.

Chicago scored twice in the first inning and five times in the third off Angels' starter Anthony Ortega, who walked six and allowed eight hits in 2 2-3 innings.

Designated hitter Mark Kotsay, batting .426 in spring training, hit a two-run home run, and seven of the first nine White Sox batters reached base. Kotsay drove in three runs and Chicago sent 11 men to bat in the third inning.

White Sox starter John Danks struck out seven in 5 2-3 innings, allowing three runs.

One change on Opening Day to the team that started Monday might be in center field, where Jones played - but Alex Rios could be there next week.

``Andruw's playing very well this spring training,'' Guillen said of Jones, who is batting .341 and could also see time at designated hitter. ``One thing I ask my players is to be patient. I know everyone wants to be in the lineup, especially on Opening Day. I'm the type of guy that likes to play the guys a lot, especially the bench.''

Angels outfielder Reggie Willits played for the first time in two weeks after being sidelined because of a hamstring injury. He went 1 for 3 before being replaced.

``We're optimistic that the worst is behind him and he'll be ready to move forward and see when he's ready,'' Angels manager Mike Scioscia said.

The White Sox had a tough time in the field, committing four errors after Guillen had spoken of an emphasis on defense earlier. Konerko had two and catcher A.J. Pierzynski one.

NOTES: White Sox reliever Scott Linebrink gave up four runs, two earned, in 2-3 inning, and Tony Pena balked home a run. ... Chicago's projected Opening Day starter, Mark Buehrle, is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Oakland A's.
