Alcides Escobar, Andrelton Simmons rob each other of hits with incredible plays By Cameron DaSilva Published Nov 15, 2016 3:11 pm EST Alcides Escobar and Andrelton Simmons are two of the best fielding shortstops in the game today. They have three Gold Gloves between them in the last three years and flash the leather consistently in the field. On Tuesday night, the two squared off as the Royals took on the Angels in Kansas City. The Angels obliterated the Royals to the tune of a 13-0 win thanks to Los Angeles outhitting the defending champs 22 to three. Both Escobar and Simmons reached base on singles, but they also robbed each other of hits, too.In the top of the fifth inning, Escobar ranged deep into the hole and threw a strike to first to nab Simmons and take a hit away from him.One inning later, Simmons returned the favor with a terrific barehanded play on a slow grounder.Watching these guys go back and forth exchanging Gold Glove-caliber plays in the field is truly a treat. If only this happened on a daily basis.
