2015 World Series & postseason results

For the first time in 30 years, the Royals are World Series champions.

Kansas City on Sunday finished off the New York Mets in Game 5, rallying from a two-run deficit in the ninth inning before pouring it on in the 12th inning for a 7-2 win.

The Royals won the series four games to one, but it was a lot closer than it looked. Kansas City became the first team in World Series history to win three games in which they trailed in the eighth inning or later.

The rally spoiled a brilliant outing from Mets starter Matt Harvey, who pitched eight shutout innings, then had to argue his way out to the mount for the ninth. He surrendered a walk to Lorenzo Cain and a double to Eric Hosmer that started the Royals rally.

The Royals' only other championship came in 1985. They lost to the San Francisco Giants in last year’s World Series.
