Report: Golfer has affair with flight attendant
An Australian woman has been caught up in a Tiger Woods-style scandal involving Denmark's most successful professional golfer, Thomas Bjorn, The Sunday Times in Australia reported.
Perth-born flight attendant Dagmara Leniartek had a five-year affair with Bjorn, a Danish national icon affectionately known as "The Bear," who has finished second in three major championships.
Bjorn is married with three children.
The affair ended in December last year when Leniartek, 33, informed Bjorn she was pregnant with his baby, according to reports in Danish media.
It was about the same time that media reported golf superstar Woods had been unfaithful to his wife for years with a number of mistresses.
Bjorn initially cut relations with Leniartek and denied he was the father of her daughter.
However, Danish media reported a DNA test had subsequently proved Bjorn was the father of the child — a blue-eyed girl named Isabella.
Leniartek recently moved back home to Western Australia with her daughter.
She would not comment when approached by The Sunday Times this week.
Bjorn turned pro in 1993 and came second in two British Opens (2000, 2003) and second in the 2005 U.S. PGA.
Bjorn now commands more than $25,000 for public speaking events in the U.S. and Britain, working for IMG Speakers.
His profile on the IMG website says he is "a great ambassador for his country and European golf."
IMG and Bjorn did not respond to inquiries from The Sunday Times this week.
