Phil Mickelson hit a tee shot at the PGA Championship into a neighborhood

After finishing runner-up to Henrik Stenson at the Open Championship a few weeks ago, Phil Mickelson was looking to continue his outstanding play in majors at the PGA Championship. He opened at Baltusrol with a first-round 1-over par, which was manageable.

After just one hole on Friday, Mickelson fell from tied for 55th to tied for 102nd thanks to a triple-bogey on No. 1. This was all thanks to a horrendous opening drive that ended up in a neighborhood across the street.

Needless to say, it wasn’t the start Mickelson was looking for. He quickly dropped to 4-over par, which puts him in danger of missing the cut and likely out of contention.

Emiliano Grillo leads at 7-under par, surpassing Stenson at the top of the leaderboard.
