PGA Tour player hits 251-yard double eagle on the first day of the season

The wraparound 2016-17 PGA Tour season opened Thursday at the Tiger Woods-less Safeway Open, and it took one day for a player to hole the rarest shot in golf.

Morgan Hoffman put his drive in the fairway at the par-5 18th hole, but still had 251 yards left to the cup. He blasted an iron the rest of the way, landing the ball just short of the green. It took two very fortunate hops forward out of the rough and rolled in the hole for a wild albatross.

Hoffman's double eagle was the first ever at the Silverado Resort.
