Overton faces misdemeanor charges

PGA Tour golfer Jeff Overton faces three misdemeanor charges after he allegedly resisted arrest in Indiana as police tried to arrest him for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Overton, 28, a native of Indiana, drew the attention of officers by yelling at people from his limousine, WFIE-TV reported, citing information from police.

The arrest and charges Saturday follow similar charges in 2007, later dismissed, and illegal consumption of alcohol charges in 2001 and 2003, when he was underage, the Evansville Courier-Press reported.

Overton's limousine was blocking traffic as he yelled at people in front of a sports bar, the Courier-Press reported, citing a detail from a police report, before he was later seen yelling at passers-by outside a police station, where he was arrested.

He had appeared earlier in the night at an Indiana-Kentucky college basketball game to present a $50,000 check for the Play Golf America initiative run by the PGA and LPGA tours, US Golf Association and PGA of America.
