John Daly explains the time he tried to drink with Tiger Woods

Back in their respective "primes," John Daly and Tiger Woods were two of the most talented golfers in the world. The way in which they each got to the highest point in the game was different, though.

Woods was a workout warrior, constantly mashing bucket after bucket of balls on the driving range. Daly, on the other hand, drank and smoked heavily. A story that involved Daly and Woods from 2004 perfectly describes their differing approaches.

Daly was sitting in the clubhouse drinking with some friends after the Target World Challenge Pro-Am as Woods walked in.

"Tiger's there in his workout clothes and I said, 'Tiger come have a beer with us, man,'" Daly said, via Golf Channel.

Woods declined, saying he had to go work out instead.

"I go, 'Man, you don't need to work out. You need to drink a little bit with us,'" Daly recalled.

Woods, however, didn't take a shot at Daly for drinking instead of practicing. He was enamored by his talent, and ability to indulge in adult beverages when he could be pounding golf balls.

"[Woods] said, 'If I had your talent I'd be doing the same thing you're doing. I'm looking at him thinking 'you're crazy, man.'"
