Hideki Matsuyama shot -19 to stump Webb Simpson in playoff a 4-hole playoff, successfully defending his Waste Management Phoenix Open title on Sunday.
Playing before record-breaking crowds, Hideki Matsuyama put together a flawless week at TPC Scottsdale, posting scores of 65, 68, 68 and 66 in his four rounds. With this win, Matsuyama continues to dominate the Waste Management Phoenix Open, as well as on Tour. Matsuyama finished his 72-holes with 48 pars, 19 birdies, 1 eagle and 4 bogeys.
The Japanese golfing sensation continues to push his way up the list into the “elite players” catorgory. Sunday’s win gives Matsuyama his fourth career PGA Tour win, ranking the most among Japanese born players.
