Fitzpatrick wins British Masters to claim first pro title
WOBURN, England -- Matthew Fitzpatrick shot a 3-under 68 Sunday to win the British Masters by two shots for his first professional title.
The 21-year-old Englishman shot five birdies in his final round to finish on a 15-under total of 269.
Soren Kjeldsen of Denmark was jostling with Fitzpatrick at the top of the leaderboard, but he putted off the green on the par-5 15th when faced with an eagle opportunity from 30 feet.
Kjeldsen rescued par, but bogeyed No. 16 and finished tied second on 13 under with Paraguay's Fabrizio Zanotti and Ireland's Shane Lowry.
