Daly gets in last word with heckler

John Daly played his final practice round for the British Open with Spaniards Miguel Angel Jimenez and Pablo Larrazabal, so he might have been the odd man out when it came to conversation Wednesday. And it didn't improve much when he greeted the gallery at the 18th green after his round.

With his very blonde hair waving in the wind, Daly signed autographs and tried his best to ignore a very loud fan.

“Hey, John. Go, Tide,” the man yelled, showing his allegiance to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

No response from Daly. He's a former member of the University of Arkansas golf squad and a confirmed fan of the Razorbacks football team.

“Roll, Tide,” the man tweaked his approach.

Head down, Daly kept signing.

Finally, the man tried, “Remember St. Andrews,” as if Daly somehow could forget his British Open triumph there 17 years ago. But if that had a chance of getting a reaction, the man ruined it by tossing in another, “Roll, Tide.”

Daly kept his head down, though he shook it briskly.

“Go, Hogs!” he said on his way out, never casting even a glance toward the fan.
