Anthony Kim Spotted on Golf Course for Event

Anthony Kim has become one of the biggest mysteries in golf history, but he was recently spotted on a golf course for the first time in a long while.

The mystery of Anthony Kim has become a topic for the ages in the sport of golf. Once one of the game’s brightest young stars, Kim hasn’t played a professional golf tournament since 2012 and has all but disappeared from the spotlight.

How someone of that popularity can do that is incredible, but Kim has done it — until now, that is. Kim was recently seen at a charity golf event hosted by WNBA legend Nancy Lieberman.

Although Kim has been extremely quiet, he did do an interview with Doug Ferguson of the Associated Press. The interview is confusing — he sounds like he wants to play again, but then hedges, calling golf a “fun memory.”

One of the funny things about this tweet is the fact that Lieberman tweeted at Kim’s account, which has been abandoned and collecting virtual dust since 2010. It’s a big deal if any golfer goes MIA for a long time, and it’s concerning.

However, Kim was a golfer of such incredible talent — he easily could have won a major. In 2010, he put on one of the greatest shows in recent Masters history when he sank 11 birdies during his final round at Augusta National. I personally remember watching, and I couldn’t believe it.

Not only that: Kim and Boo Weekley were major contributors at the 2008 Ryder Cup, where Team USA raised the trophy in victory. Ironically, that was the last time the U.S. squad won the illustrious team event.

Kim was also one of the “coolest” golfers we’ve ever seen. His sense of style and swagger made him an instant favorite. This made him great for the sport, as he would’ve easily appealed to younger audiences.

Guys like Rickie Fowler have since taken over in the swagger department. However, Kim had a cool, relaxed nature to go along with his great play on the golf course.

In short, we may never see a guy like him for a while. Maybe one day, we’ll see him working back in the golf world in some capacity, or perhaps with basketball, another sport he really loves.

Kim racked up three career wins on the PGA Tour. His best finishes in the majors include third place at the 2010 Masters and a tie for fifth at the 2011 Open Championship.
