8 photos of Andrew 'Beef' Johnston's glorious beard
Unless you watch much European Tour golf, the British Open may have been your first look at rising 27-year-old English star Andrew Johnston, better known by his nickname, "Beef."
Playing in just his third major championship, Johnston began his final round at Royal Troon in fourth place - and though Beef likely doesn't have a chance to catch the leaders, he went on a run of three birdies in his first four holes Sunday.
Beef made a name for himself internationally by winning his first European Tour event in April at the Spanish Open, and quipped afterward that he couldn't "wait to get hammered." Since then, Johnston finished 57th in the U.S. Open and has risen to 104th in the world.
Johnston takes his nickname so seriously he's got the names of cuts of beef stamped on his wedge.

He also has arguably the best beard in sports. Johnston says he's been growing it since October of 2015.
