Tour de France to start from Germany in 2017
PARIS (AP) The Tour de France will start from the German city of Duesseldorf in 2017.
Tour organizers say it will be the fourth time in the race's century-old history that cycling's showpiece starts in Germany.
London was considered the favorite to host the 2017 race start, but withdrew its bid in September.
The last time the three-week race started from Germany was in 1987, when the Grand Depart took place in West Berlin.
Details of the first stages will be unveiled in January.
