Woods adjusting to new role on Hawkeyes staff

After spending the last three seasons coaching linebackers at Iowa, LeVar Woods has a new position to get used to. The Hawkeye alum who had a seven-year NFL career has moved over to the offensive side of the ball as the new tight ends coach.

According to QC Times, Woods has some experience at tight end:

“It’s a position that I have not played since I was on the scout team in the Hayden Fry era,’’ Woods said. “But, it’s a great position, although I had no idea how much the position was involved in the offense until I started coaching it.’’

“But, I was excited for the opportunity,’’ he said. “I get the opportunity to coach tight ends at one of the greatest schools for tight ends in the country.’’

Iowa has put many tight ends in the NFL and time will only tell if Woods can continue to help Iowa maintain it's place as "Tight End U."
