Wofford 28, Appalachian St. 14

Bernard Williams ran for 173 yards and Wofford's offense proved more efficient than Appalachian State's in a 28-14 Terriers' win on Saturday.

Williams and Blake Wylie, who added 75 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries, paced Wofford (3-1, 2-0 Southern Conference) which ran for 388 yards and finished with 407 yards of total offense. The ground game enabled Wofford to control possession for 38:30, compared to just 21:30 by the Mountaineers.

Appalachian State managed just 247 yards of total offense, and couldn't find any when it mattered most. The Mountaineers, who were tied for fourth nationally with an 85.7 percent red zone touchdown rate, scored just twice in four trips inside the 20 on Saturday.

Appalachian State was also just 3 of 12 on third downs, compared to 11 of 18 by Wofford, who scored twice on drives after missed Mountaineers' field goals.
