With 4th straight monster game, McCaffrey's a Heisman dark horse

Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey isn't just putting himself into the Heisman conversation — he's practically sprinting there.

McCaffrey, a sophomore, gained a stupefying 369 all-purpose yards in less than three quarters Thursday night vs. Stanford — with 244 of those yards coming in the first half alone, where he had two touchdown runs and a 96-yard kickoff return. McCaffrey went on to rush for two second-half touchdowns, including a 70-yard burst.

McCaffrey also set a new Stanford single-game rushing record with 243 yards, breaking a mark set by former Cardinal Toby Gerhart. McCaffrey's 369-yard outing represents the highest total in the FBS so far this season.

Somehow, this shouldn't come as a massive surprise. McCaffrey's been at this all season. He gained 249 all-purpose yards against USC, then followed that up by going for 303 all-purpose yards against Oregon State and 260 all-purpose yards vs. Arizona. The sophomore sensation now leads all of college football in all-purpose yards with 1,518.

As FOX Sports' Stewart Mandel noted earlier this week, McCaffrey's parents, including former Broncos All-Pro WR Ed McCaffrey, may have to start planning a trip to New York.
