Wisconsin Football: Badgers Set for Cotton Bowl Showdown

Badgers To Take On Western Michigan in Goodyear Cotton Bowl

Wisconsin Football received a New Years Six Bowl invitation as the Badgers were selected to take the Goodyear Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas where the Badgers will take on the Western Michigan Broncos on January 2nd at noon.

The Broncos come in as the highest ranked non power conference team meaning they recieve an at large bid to a New Year Six Bowl. The Broncos come into the game on a very high note riding in on an undefeated regular season and Mac Championship under their belt. Head Coach PJ Fleck is one of the best young coaches in the game, and he will certainly have his team ready for Wisconsin come January 2nd.

The Badgers come in at 10-3, after being gutted in the Big Ten Championship against Penn State. They will certainly have a large task on their hand as the non power conference team has won both of the previous two teams to earn the bid have won the contest (Houston, Boise State). For Wisconsin, the interesting thing will be if they will be able to match the intensity of what Western Michigan will bring. Coaching will go a long way in preparation for the contest.

Often times after losing the way they did, and earning a big to a possible lesser competitive game the power five team can come out flat, but I have confidence Coach Chryst will have them ready to go to try and come away with a victory in Dallas.

Coming into the season, nobody predicted Wisconsin would make a New Year Six bowl, and many picked them to not even make a bowl so in the grand scheme, Wisconsin will certainly take the result. The opportunity is there for Wisconsin to end this up and down season on a high note, and while they may not get the credit they deserve if they win this game, it certainly is a good opportunity against a competitive team.
