William Shatner totally buys K-State band's 'Enterprise' explanation
Capt. James T. Kirk is setting his phasers to stun over the Kansas State marching band controversy.
K-State announced sanctions Tuesday against its band and director "for violation of the [Big 12] sportsmanship policy" after a controversial halftime show.
In case you've been living under a space rock, allow The Associated Press to re-create the situation on Holodeck:
The band underscored in a tweet that it was only showing off its affection for "Star Trek" and was not, in fact, attempting to depict anything "adult-oriented."
Apparently K-State's president disagreed and levied punishment anyway.
This did not seem to sit well with William Shatner, who called the school's sanctions "a travesty":
Will we ever see the final frontier of this incident?
Beam us up, please.
I think it's time for the @Big12Conference leaders to step down and get their eyes checked. What a travesty! https://t.co/VDkOOA5dUl
