Will local 2016 quarterback choose LSU?

After striking out with the vast majority of its quarterback targets in the class of 2016, LSU is hoping it can convince '16 signal-caller Lindsey Scott Jr. to stay home and play for the program.

Depth at the position isn't great. Aside from Brandon Harris, Purdue transfer Danny Etling, senior Anthony Jennings, and redshirt freshman Justin McMillan are the only quarterbacks on the roster.

With Jennings, Harris, and Etling slated to be upperclassmen in 2016, LSU needs some balance when it comes to younger quarterbacks within the squad.

Scott Jr's father announced that his son is essentially down to LSU and Maryland -- with Harvard and Tulane sitting on the outskirts of his recruitment.

Scott Jr. is a dual-threat quarterback with terrific mobility. While he is a bit undersized for the position, he's a pure winner with great leadership qualities. He also can make things happen with his feet when the play breaks down -- an aspect which is always incredibly tough for opposing defenses to stop.

He was named as the Louisiana state Gatorade Player of the Year -- among his other honors. In terms of scheme, he may fit Maryland's pseudo-spread attack better than LSU's pro-style, run-heavy look.

However, the allure of staying close to home could be the determining factor in Scott's recruitment.
