Will Bryce Petty end up being better than Winston and Mariota?

Jameis Winston. Marcus Mariota. That's the expected order the top two quarterback prospects are expected to be taken in Thursday's NFL draft.

The third quarterback who gets far less attention is two-time Big 12 champion Bryce Petty of the Baylor Bears. Petty has had a strong offseason of workouts and has helped his stock. Still, it's uncertain exactly where he'll fall in the draft. It's practically dead certain that he won't leap Winston, the Florida State star, or Mariota, Oregon's stellar signal-caller.

But when all is said and done, could Petty end up being a better pro than either Heisman Trophy winners?

"I wouldn't be surprised if it's Bryce Petty," longtime Dallas Morning News NFL guru Rick Gosselin said during an Internet chat. "I would rather take him in the third round at that price than spend a Top 5 pick (and Top 5 money) on either Winston or Mariota. I don't think either of those guys is a franchise quarterback and I think Molriota needs to go to the right system to flourish. Petty won't play as quickly as Winston or Mariota but 3-4 years down the road he may be the guy having the better career."
