Who will replace Kevin Hogan as Stanford's quarterback?

Senior quarterback Kevin Hogan, one of Stanford's most accomplished quarterbacks ever, has played his final game for the Cardinal.

Despite the fact that Hogan operated with some limitations during his career, he is the winningest QB in Stanford history (36 wins) and led the Cardinal to three Pac-12 title games, three Rose Bowl's and two Rose Bowl wins.

Whoever fills Hogan's role will have big shoes to fill.

Keller Chryst, who will be a redshirt sophomore, and Ryan Burns, who will be a redshirt junior, are expected to compete for Hogan's job. Chryst was Hogan's backup for the 2015 season.

The two potential quarterbacks are friends off the field, but don't expect that to get in the way of their competition.

"We're friends off the field,'' Burns said, via the San Jose Mercury News, "but we'll get after each other.''

While Chryst and Burns are expected to be the leading candidates for the job, four-star QB commit K.J. Costello could be an x-factor.
