What does Vegas know about Auburn?

Perhaps in anticipation of Auburn quarterback Cam Newton being punished, two online betting sites have taken the Tigers' game with Georgia on Saturday "off the board."

Such a move by an oddsmaker typically means something makes setting a line for the game difficult, such as an injury to a key player or, in the case of Newton, a possible punitive action.

Bodog.com and Intertops.com quit taking action Wednesday on the SEC showdown between No. 2 Auburn and Georgia. Intertops had rated Auburn an eight-point favorite as of Tuesday. But then news started breaking about possible improprieties involving Newton.

Newton is under scrutiny after allegations surfaced in the past week surrounding the circumstances of his recruitment at Mississippi State. ESPN.com reported that Newton and his father sought cash in order to play there. Newton eventually chose to play at Auburn instead.

On Monday, FOXSports.com reported that Newton had three different instances of academic cheating while attending the University of Florida and faced potential expulsion from the university, according to a source.
