West Virginia game may help ISU cope with Rhoads' firing
On Sunday, it was announced that Paul Rhoads was fired as the Iowa State football coach. Just six days later, Rhoads will be on the sidelines to coach Iowa State's final game of the season against bowl eligible West Virginia.
Seems a bit strange right?
Perhaps. But it could also help Iowa State players who are fond of Rhoads cope with his dismissal.
In fact, the players are saying how great of a week of practice they've had.
“We were flying around out there,” offensive tackle Brock Dagel said. “If anything it’s brought us closer, made us realize that we already knew this was going to be our last game as seniors, but it makes us feel like this is our last chance to play for this coaching staff, to play for this head coach that’s played a role in developing us as players and as men as well.”
