College football Week 11 top plays: Baylor downs Oklahoma, Ole Miss tops Texas A&M, more

Week 11 of the college football season lived up to the hype!

No. 12 Wake Forest outlasted ACC foe No. 16 NC State, 45-42, that coming after the No. 15 Ole Miss Rebels topped No. 11 Texas A&M, 29-19, in a pivotal SEC bout and Kansas stunned Texas, 57-56, in OT.

Earlier, No. 13 Baylor kicked off Saturday's action on FOX's "Big Noon Kickoff" by upsetting No. 8 Oklahoma 27-14, the Sooners' first loss of the season.

And it's safe to say Baylor fans enjoyed the moment.

Also Saturday, Mississippi State rallied from 25-down to knock off No. 17 Auburn, 43-34, No. 6 Michigan narrowly escaped Penn State, 21-17, and No. 4 Ohio State handled No. 19 Purdue, 59-31.

Here are the top plays from Saturday's action.

No. 15 Ole Miss 29, No. 11 Texas A&M 19

Rebs strike first

Ole Miss put its money where its mouth is by jumping out to an early 10-0 lead.

Heisman Trophy contender Matt Corral found one of his favorite receivers, Dontario Drummond, for six.

Landshark defense

The Rebels continued to shut down the Aggies on the ground, coming up with a safety in the second frame.

Headed into the break, Ole Miss was shutting out Texas A&M 15-0.

Aggies arrive

Texas A&M got its first TD of the night in the third when Devon Achane broke out for 24 yards on this play.

Turnover time

In the fourth quarter, Ole Miss came up with a huge interception when the ball bounced out of the hands of the Aggies receiver.

Snoop There It Is!

The turnover set up a TD scamper from Snoop Conner to extend the Rebels' lead.

Run. It. Back.

What's better than one interception? Two!

Ole Miss snagged its second turnover of the quarter when Zach Calzada was picked off by Rebels DB A.J. Finley, who returned it 52 yards for a TD and sealed Texas A&M's fate.

No. 12 Wake Forest 45, No. 16 NC State 42

Getting things going

The Demon Deacons took the lead when Sam Hartman dropped this dime to A.T. Perry midway through the first.

He'll take that

In the second quarter, Wake Forest defensive back Traveon Redd recovered an NC State fumble and returned the ball 47 yards, which set up a short touchdown run from Hartman on the following play.

Returning the favor

On the ensuing drive, the Wolfpack fired back with a big play of their own when Zonovan Knight returned Wake Forest's kickoff 72 yards.

On the next play, Devin Leary found Emeka Emezie for a 28-yard TD to stay within reach.

Heading into the break, Wake Forest led 24-20.

So nice, he did it twice!

On the first play of the second half, Knight made another big special teams play, this time returning Wake Forest's kickoff 100 yards to the house.

Back and forth

Wake Forest responded with back-to-back TDs in the second half, but NC State kept the Demon Deacons within arm's reach at 38-35 midway through the final frame thanks to this drive.

Third time's the charm

With less than two minutes left, Justice Ellison found the end zone — his third TD of the night — to give Wake Forest a 10-point lead.

Too little, too late

Leary found Carter — for the second time — from eight yards out to make it a three-point game with 45 seconds to play, but it wasn't enough, and things ended there.

No. 13 Baylor 27, No. 8 Oklahoma 14

Not in our house!

Baylor came up with a huge pick to stop OU in the first quarter.

Returning the favor

What OU giveth, it also taketh.

This second-quarter interception returned the possession arrow in the Sooners' direction.

Punching the clock

Big plays from Caleb Williams are like clockwork. He punched in this short-yardage scamper for the game's first TD.

No surprises here

Baylor struck back, courtesy of Tyquan Thornton.

"We want Spencer"

Williams did not have the support of his fan base after throwing his second INT on the day.

Turn on the jets!

This Abram Smith guy is pretty fast.

That long run set up a Baylor touchdown from Gerry Bohanan to put the Bears up 17-7.

Scary Gerry!

Bohanan beat the Sooners on the ground again, this time bobbing and weaving his way into the end zone.

Baylor held on to win 27-14, ending the Sooners' perfect season.

No. 4 Ohio State 59, No. 19 Purdue 31

Get 'em Garrett!

Garrett Wilson is back in Ohio State's lineup. And he made his impact felt early with the game's first touchdown.

Bye-bye

Think Wilson is the only Buckeye capable of breaking off a colossal run?

Think again.

Going, going, gone

And just when you thought the Buckeyes' run game couldn't get any better …

Enter: TreVeyon Henderson.

Pouring it on

Ohio State continued to dominate against the Boilermakers one quarter after the next.

THE BEST OF THE REST:

No. 3 Oregon 38, Washington State 24

It was a doozy in Eugene, Oregon as the Ducks went back and forth with Washington State, which scored 14 unanswered points in the second quarter to knot things up heading into the break.

The second half was all Oregon, however, as Byron Cardwell went for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

No. 22 San Diego State 23, Nevada 21

SDSU's Greg Bell took off for a monster 50-yard gain, and the Nevada defense was left in his dust.

Bell's run helped set up the Aztecs' lone first-half TD.

It was a tough matchup for the Aztecs, who needed a clutch effort from their kicker to put it away.

Kansas 57, Texas 56 (OT)

It was a wild one in Austin as the Jayhawks topped the Longhorns in overtime on a two-point conversion.

This is Kansas' first Big 12 road win since 2008, and Texas has now lost five straight games for the first time since 1956.

No. 10 Oklahoma State 63, TCU 17

OSU's Jaden Nixon ran through TCU's defense on this all-out sprint to the end zone.

No. 25 Arkansas 16, LSU 13 (OT)

LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier launched this rocket to give the Tigers the lead, and oh was it fun to watch.

How about this throw on the run from KJ Jefferson for a Razorback TD?

No. 9 Notre Dame 28, Virginia 3

Meanwhile, in Charlottesville …

Texas Tech 41, Iowa State 38

With three seconds to spare, Texas Tech’s Jonathan Garibay nailed a 62-yarder to beat the Cyclones.

No. 1 Georgia 41, Tennessee 17

The first touchdown of the game came from the underdog Volunteers.

But Georgia wasn't far behind. Check out this play by James Cook — the man responsible for the Bulldogs' first score.

Missouri 31, South Carolina 28

Mizzou wideout Mookie Cooper came up big on this 60-yard touchdown pass from QB Connor Bazelak

No. 20 Iowa 27, Minnesota 22

Alex Padilla found Charlie Jones on this monster play to extend the Hawkeyes' lead over Minnesota

Late in the fourth quarter, Tanner Morgan found his receiver for a 68-yard TD to make it a two-point game.

Florida State 31, Miami 28

How in the world did the Hurricanes pull this off?

Wrong answers only.

South Dakota 23, South Dakota State 20

South Dakota topped in-state rival South Dakota State in a thrilling fashion on this last-second Hail Mary.

No. 2 Alabama 59, New Mexico State 3

Alabama is no stranger to big plays, and this week was no different.

Kansas State 34, West Virginia 17

Kansas State made waves on special teams with this big blocked punt that led to six points.

Rutgers 38, Indiana 3

Rutgers is clicking on the defensive end. This interception came straight out of a WR's arsenal.

It's always fun when the big guys score!

No. 20 Wisconsin 35, Northwestern 7

Braelon Allen does not go down easily. He dragged a few defenders with him as he charted a path for his third TD of the day.

No. 8 Michigan State 40, Maryland 21

Michigan State went deep into its bag of tricks to write its name on the scoreboard first.

It was a hard-fought game on both sides, but in the end, the Spartans came out on top.
