Watson releases emotional statement after being named Heisman finalist

On Tuesday, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy along with Alabama running back Derrick Henry and Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey.

Watson, who has guided Clemson to 13-0 record and the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoffs, said he was honored to make the cut.

On the season, the star sophomore has thrown for 3,512 yards and 30 touchdowns, while rushing for 887 yards and 11 scores. It’s been a magical season for Watson, who at this time last year was rehabbing from ACL surgery. On Tuesday, he released an emotional statement in response to being invited to the Heisman presentation ceremony in New York.
