WATCH: What was Connor Cook trying to do with this pass?

Iowa and Michigan State traded turnovers early in the first quarter of the Big Ten title game Saturday.

The Hawkeyes' turnover came first, and was courtesy of senior tight end Henry Krieger Coble, who lost a fumble:

Michigan State took advantage and scored a field goal -- but then it was the Hawkeyes who turned the tables before the quarter came to a close.

Michigan State's turnover was courtesy of a very strange throw by Spartans quarterback Connor Cook, whose intended target was not quite clear when he dropped back from his own 30 on a second-down play. Watch it above.

Josey Jewell had no complaints, though, collecting Cook's pass to set up an eventual 24-yard field goal by Marshall Koehn that tied the game at 3 with 5:08 left in the first quarter.

Cook got the last laugh as he and the Spartans prevailed 16-13 thanks to a dramatic fourth-quarter touchdown drive, and he was named the game's MVP.
