WATCH: After bowl rushing record, Briles hands off surprise game ball

The Baylor Bears crushed the Russell Athletic Bowl rushing record in the first half and went on to set a new all-time bowl rushing record with an astounding 645 yards in their 49-38 victory over North Carolina on Tuesday.

Entering the game starting a third-string quarterback and without top running back Shock Linwood and the nation's best receiver Corey Coleman, Baylor coach Art Briles transformed the Bears' vertical passing game into an unstoppable rushing force. Receiver Lynx Hawthorne and three running backs, led by Johnny Jefferson, who went for 299 yards, alternated snaps in the wildcat formation along with quarterback Chris Johnson. And it worked to a bludgeoning charm.

After the game, Briles opened his post-game locker-room speech with the traditional honor of presenting the game's top performer with the game ball. Briles' choice came as a complete surprise, but as you'll see by the reaction, it was a popular choice. Who got it? Randy Clements, Baylor's run-game coordinator and offensive line coach.
