Wait, is 7-loss Rutgers really still bowl eligible?

If you thought the watering down of college football's bowls had reached its limit with 6-6 teams, think again. 

NJ.com points out that the local team, Rutgers, has not been eliminated from postseason contention despite losing its seventh game of the season last week against Nebraska. 

How can that be? 

So will there be a need a need to go down this path? 

NJ.com has us covered again with the note that never before have more than 78 teams won at least six games, so a 5-7 bowl team is almost certain to happen. 

And if it does, Rutgers and fellow Big Ten squad Nebraska could be high on the list of potential postseason teams with that record thanks to their strong APR scores. 

Is college football ready for a sub-.500 bowl team? 

FOX Sports College Football Insider Stewart Mandel is projecting we won't have to find out this year, but that is far from guaranteed.
