UNI's McMakin makes early entry into NFL Draft

(STATS) - Northern Iowa linebacker Brett McMakin has announced he will forego his final season of eligibility to enter the 2016 NFL draft.

The 6-foot-4, 232-pound McMakin was selected to the STATS FCS All-America second team as a fourth-year junior this past season, when UNI went 9-5 and reached the FCS playoff quarterfinals.

He led the Missouri Valley Football Conference team with 123 tackles this season and finished his career with 255, including 30 for loss. He also compiled 15.5 sacks, three interceptions and 10 forced fumbles.

The NFL's deadline for early entry into the draft is Monday.
