UCLA Football: Two Bruins Have A Tiny Tussle On Twitter

The UCLA Football team had some extracurricular activities today on social media as Takkarist McKinley and Mique Juarez exchanged less than friendly tweets at each other.

From time to time, college football teams have some drama in their program and it’s nothing new.  That is of course you are USC, but that’s besides the point.

Football is an emotional game and players and coaches take it very seriously. Some more than others.

Football teams consist of many different types of personalities from all over and sometimes those personalities clash.

That seemed to be the situation today when two UCLA football players exchanged a few tweets that took jabs at each other.

It all started on Saturday night after UCLA’s victory over BYU when yet-to-practice freshman Mique Juarez tweeted his support for the Bruins. Veteran defensive end Takkarist McKinley had responded in a way that seemed playful, quoting Juarez’s tweet with “who is this”. That tweet has been deleted.

This morning, McKinley sent out another tweet that seemed to be directed at juarez. Without naming him, McKinley tweeted out:

“I don’t care if you a 5 (star) If you not at UCLA grinding everyday with yo bros going to practices, lifts, meetings etc. How tf are u a brother” Indeed.

Juarez responded with a not-so-subtle tweet of his own, directly naming “Takk”.

McKinley has deleted that tweet as well. Juarez still has his up.

No matter what emotions are being felt by the players, it seems that there is a little bit of a rift. If that is the case, the UCLA coaches should get a handle on this.

Hopefully, whatever tension is brewing is quelled as UCLA has bigger fish to fry, namely the Stanford Cardinal who come to town on Saturday.
