UCLA Football Halftime Report: UCLA On Top Of Colorado

The UCLA Footbal team jumps out to a 10-7 lead at halftime over #15 Colorado. The Bruins offense struggles as the defense keeps them in the game with four interceptions.

It seems the UCLA Football team once again was playing just good enough until they made a mistake and left points on the field. Fortunately that only occurred twice before they were able put some points on the board.

The Bruins squandered their first two drives to a bad snap that forced a punt from inside the 10 and an interception on a drive where UCLA was clicking.

It was the third drive that got UCLA in the game as Mike Fafaul, who has been doing a fantastic job rolling out to pass, does so to the left and hits Darren Andrews down the sideline for the score.

Colorado actually scored first after UCLA’s second drive. Liufau was pretty solid in that drive but was pressured all half long. On Colorado’s first drive, he threw the ball into traffic where four bruins resided and it was picked off.

More from Go Joe Bruin

Colorado started the second quarter with another INT as Liufau threw it right to Cameron Judge. That drive ended with a J.J. Molson 48-yard field goal. UCLA was up 10-7 at that point.

Liufau threw his third interception when he was crushed in the backfield late in the second quarter. Jayon Brown intercepted the pass and took it down into Bruin territory. Liufau went to the locker room with an apparent injury.

UCLA squandered the field advantage as they first could not get in the end zone from the red zone and then had the ensuing field goal blocked.

On CU’s next possession, Goforth got UCLA’s fourth interception, unfortunately it ends with UCLA punting. It was a very trying game.

The Bruins even established what is known as a “run game”. The Bruins had forced the issue on a few plays, but for the most part was able to rely on the ground game. Soso Jamabo was the main back running and got 52 yards on 18 carries. Progress.
