Two senior DEs hold key to boosting one of nation's worst defenses

Quarterback battles always win the headline war, and Texas Tech's battle between Davis Webb and Patrick Mahomes will be the talk of Lubbock all summer.

But if the Red Raiders are going to make a move in the Big 12 in 2015, it's going to be because of tremendous improvement from one of the nation's worst defenses. That defense is now under the control of defensive coordinator David Gibbs.

And Gibbs has high expectations for his defensive line. In analyzing Tech's post-spring depth chart, some of the most important players holding down No. 1 spots include a couple of senior defensive ends in Branden Jackson and Pete Robertson.
