Two MSU freshmen facing smaller learning curve

Michigan State has a slew of freshmen coach Mark Dantonio has said could see the field this fall, but two might have an advantage over the rest.

SpartanTailgate reports Andrew and David Dowell have found much of the Spartans defensive scheme is similar to what they knew as standouts at Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward High School.

“It’s different terminology, but just being able to pick up on the assignments is going pretty well," David Dowell said.

He is working at cornerback while his brother works to learn the "Star" linebacker position.

With Darien Harris back as the starter there, the path to playing time appears more open in the secondary.
