Twitter reacts to Spurrier's departure: 'You have changed USC forever'

Since his resignation this week as South Carolina's head coach, Steve Spurrier has received plenty of well-wishes from the sporting world. Personal tales, tweets rooted in admiration, and all sorts of pleasantries were thrown Spurrier's way.

Below is a sampling of tributes to the Head Ball Coach:

Although many know Jesse Palmer as a college football analyst (and a former "Bachelor"), he also was a quarterback under Spurrier at Florida from 1997-2000.

Current Houston Texans defensive end Jadaveon Clowney was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He competed for his hometown team South Carolina under Spurrier's guidance.

Both Perry Orth and Pharoh Cooper are current players for the Gamecocks. Cooper has arguably been Spurrier's best player the past few years, and likely will go down as one of the best pass-catchers to ever play at the school.

Orth was a walk-on quarterback with limited options. Spurrier ultimately brought him on board, and Orth has become an integral member of the squad.

Current NFL analyst and former NFL player Cris Collinsworth played under Spurrier for one season in 1978. The quarterbacks' coach at the time, Spurrier moved Collinsworth from quarterback to receiver. The rest is history, as Collinsworth became an All-Pro player on the professional level.

The coaching fraternity in any sport is a special thing. Both Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops and Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze offered their praise for "The Ol' Ball Coach."

Lastly, former quarterback Danny Wuerffel posted a heartfelt message for Spurrier. Wuerffel won the Heisman Trophy under Spurrier at Florida, and also the 1996 national title.
