Top Texas linebacker announces final five; will decide on signing day

Pursued by virtually every school in the country, Texas linebacker Dontavious Jackson has narrowed his final list down to Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, and Texas. He will announce his decision on National Signing Day (Feb. 3).

Jackson is a dynamic player from the middle linebacker spot at 6'2", 239 pounds. He plays with a violent nature -- disposing of running backs and wide receivers via his physicality. Jackson roams sideline-to-sideline, and naturally makes plays all over the field.

His final list is an interesting one. The respective schools are spread out all throughout the country. Jackson has visited Michigan, Florida State, and Florida officially, and will visit Alabama on Jan. 22.

Texas is the lone in-state institution, which could help the Longhorns in this scenario. The thought of pairing Jackson with freshman sensation Malik Jefferson would have UT fans doing cartwheels.

However, Florida has lost multiple linebackers within its corps. Early playing time could be had. Jackson also has a strong relationship with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, and has visited Florida State multiple times.

Also, one simply cannot count Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide out of the mix.
