Top ranked QB for 2017 close to committing to Texas A&M?

College Station is quickly becoming the destination for top ranked quarterbacks from across the country. First was Kyle Allen in 2014, followed by Kyler Murray in 2015 and now Tate Martell, one of the nation's elite 2017 quarterback prospects, is considering committing to the Aggies.

The Las Vegas native recently made his first journey to College Station and came away impressed by Kevin Sumlin's program.

"It was fun," Martell told AggieYell.com. "I really liked it, I went to A&M with my dad. We went out there on Friday and stayed the whole weekend. We spent Saturday with Coach Spav (Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jake Spavital) watching film, and going on campus. Then Coach Sumlin came in and I got to talk to him. He's a really cool guy. I really liked talking with him. I really liked the school, it's a lot more than what I expected, I liked the facilities, the school and the offense for sure."

Martell was asked to rank his visit on a scale of one to ten, with ten meaning he was ready to commit.

"It would be a ten," Martell said. "I really liked the school a lot, and that trip helped a lot with where I stand with them. I'm not sure if I will commit yet. I still have to look at USC and Oregon. Those are some of my top schools too."

With two full seasons of high school left to go, the Las Vegas quarterback prospect appears to be in no hurry to name his college choice. After he evaluates his options, will he accept the challenge of competing with former prep quarterbacks just as talented as himself at A&M?

With the weapons and system currently in place, it's hard to imagine a better option than A&M for the elite quarterback prospect. Will Martell come to the same conclusion?
