Top Georgia receiver becomes latest pledge for Muschamp and USC

South Carolina picked up a significant piece to its future over the weekend -- as Rivals.com 4-star receiver Kiel Pollard flipped his pledge from Arkansas to South Carolina.

The Georgia receiver prides himself on being a physical athlete. At 6'2", 228 pounds, Pollard bullies smaller defenders with his frame. During jump-ball situations and on passes over the heart of the field, he boxes out defensive backs like a power forward pursuing a rebound.

Pollard accrued 18 touchdown catches and 1,163 receiving yards during his senior season. Although he may not possess exceptional top-end speed, Pollard simply makes plays.

In an interview with The State, Pollard spoke about the relationship he's built with South Carolina's staff. Head coach Will Muschamp had recruited Pollard dating back to his time with Florida years ago.

"Having a great relationship with Coach McClendon and Coach Bentley, they just felt like family. I just went with my gut, and my gut was saying South Carolina the whole time," said Pollard.

The addition of Pollard only adds to the skill position corps South Carolina is continuing to build. USC would love nothing more than to have Pollard form a strong bond with incoming freshman signal-caller Brandon McIlwain.
