Toledo beats Western Michigan to claim MAC's West Division (Nov 24, 2017)
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) Logan Woodside threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns, and Toledo beat Western Michigan 37-10 on Friday to secure a spot in the Mid-American Conference championship game.
The Rockets claimed the West Division crown for a chance to play Akron in the Dec. 2nd title game at Detroit's Ford Field.
''We'll cherish this one today and we'll get back at it tomorrow,'' said Woodside, who became the first player in program history to throw for more than 10,000 yards. ''We're not satisfied yet.''
Toledo led 17-3 at halftime and extended it to 31-10 after a 20-yard grab by Danzel McKinley-Lewis and Diontae Johnson's 13-yard reception.
Terry Swanson scored his 12th rushing touchdown this season for Toledo (10-2, 7-1), while Shakif Seymour added 54 yards on the ground and another TD. Jon'Vea Johnson had 96 yards receiving, Johnson added 61 yards and McKinley-Lewis scored on one of his two catches.
Swanson rushed for 94 yards to move into fifth in program history with 3,377, passing David Fluellen (2010-13) with 3,336.
Reece Goddard was intercepted twice - by Kahlil Robinson and Ka'dar Hollman - for Western Michigan (6-6, 4-4). Tyron Arnett had 87 yards and a touchdown on six catches.
