The three times Swinney almost went back to Alabama
On Dec. 31, Dabo Swinney will lead No 1 Clemson (13-0) out on the field for its College Football Playoff semifinal matchup with No. 4 Oklahoma (11-1) in the Orange Bowl.
However, if it wasn’t for a twist of fate or two the Home Depot Coach of the Year might have been doing the same for No. 2 Alabama (12-1), who will take on No. 3 Michigan State (12-1) in the other CFP semifinal matchup.
Swinney, an Alabama alum who served as a grad assistant from 1993-95 and as the Tide’s WR/TE coach from 1996-2000, told Paul Finebaum about three times he almost went back to coach at Tuscaloosa.
