6:45 p.m.

Seven women and five men have been selected to hear the child endangerment case against former Penn State University President Graham Spanier (SPAN'-yur).

Opening statements are expected Tuesday after lawyers pick four alternate jurors.

Spanier is accused of endangering children by mishandling child sex abuse complaints about retired assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

Two former Penn State officials who struck plea deals with prosecutors last week are expected to testify against Spanier.

The government witness list also includes investigators and university staff who knew about concerns raised about Sandusky before he was arrested in 2011.

Spanier denies any wrongdoing. Sandusky insists he's innocent.

Two former Penn State officials who struck plea deals are expected to testify against ex-university president Graham Spanier (SPAN'-yur) at his child endangerment trial.

Prosecutors picking jurors Monday in Spanier's felony trial say former athletic director Tim Curley and former vice president Gary Schultz are on their witness list.

Spanier was forced out shortly after longtime assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was charged with child molestation in 2011. Spanier is charged over his response to the scandal but denies any wrongdoing.

The witness list also includes investigators and university staff who knew about earlier complaints about Sandusky. They include Mike McQueary, the graduate student who reported seeing Sandusky shower with a boy in 2001.

The trial in Harrisburg could last two weeks. Jurors are being questioned Monday behind closed doors.

This story has been corrected to show McQueary reported seeing Sandusky in the shower with the boy in 2001, not 2002.

Jury selection is off to a slow start in the trial of a former Penn State president as lawyers finalize questions the potential jurors will be asked about sexual abuse and other sensitive topics.

Graham Spanier (SPAN'-yur) is facing charges over his response to the Jerry Sandusky child sex scandal. He is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of children and a single conspiracy count.

The 68-year-old Spanier declined to comment as he entered the courthouse Monday in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He has steadfastly denied any wrongdoing.

Potential witnesses include two of his former top lieutenants who recently struck plea deals with prosecutors.
