Texas to unveil Bevo XV against Notre Dame

A new chapter in Texas football will begin on Sept. 3, 2016 when Bevo XV will be revealed at Royal-Memorial Stadium during the Longhorns’ season opener against Notre Dame, according to a tweet by the UT Student Government.

Bevo XV will take over as the Longhorns’ mascot for Bevo XIV, who passed away in October of 2015. Bevo XV is the 15th Bevo in Texas history and is one of the most beloved live mascots in all of college sports.

The game time for the Notre Dame-Texas matchup is yet to be determined. In 2015, the Longhorns finished the season 5-7 (4-5 Big 12), while Notre Dame went 10-3 and ranked 11th in the final AP Top 25 Poll.
