Texas Football Recruiting: Oklahoma Commit Cameron Rising Receives Offer
Oklahoma commit Cameron Rising is being eyed by the Texas Football program, whether they have a chance of nabbing him or not.
Texas Football is coming off a disappointing 2017 National Signing Day, which only saw them bring in wide receiver Jordan Pouncey and defensive tackle Jamari Chisholm. They lost out on star d-lineman K’Lavon Chaisson to LSU, and saw others avoiding UT for the upcoming season.
This has turned the attention to the 2018 recruiting season, which is already underway. Tom Herman and Texas have already handed out offers to players, and continued doing so on Wednesday. Cameron Rising, a quarterback out of Newbury Park, CA announced on Twitter that he received an offer from the Longhorns.
Honored to say that I have received an offer from the University of Texas! pic.twitter.com/bLOvKgFSFB

Dozens of offers will be handed out by the Texas staff. However, this is notable because Rising has been committed to Oklahoma since August. He took an unofficial visit there too.
247Sports.com has Rising ranked as the No. 5 pro-style quarterback and No. 11 overall in the state of Calfornia.
Something else to take note of is the number of quarterbacks Texas has made offers to. They’ve already contacted Joey Gatewood (committed to Auburn), Justin Fields (committed to Penn State), and Casey Thompson over the past month. With having Shane Buechele in place and Sam Ehlinger joining from the 2017 recruiting class, is it possible that Herman is trying to bring in someone else that he may be more comfortable with? It would be from his first full year of recruiting for Texas.
There’s still a long way to go in the 2018 recruiting process, so this may simply be putting out a feeler on Rising. He’s already committed to the Sooners, Texas’ arch-rival, so pulling this feat off would be an interesting shakeup in the Big 12. If this doesn’t happen, then there are still other quarterback options to bring in.
