Texas coach Charlie Strong responds to Miami speculation

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Texas coach Charlie Strong was asked Monday whether he was going to Miami, where Al Golden was fired over the weekend.

Strong laughed and said: ''I have the best job in the country. I have to get things done here.''

Strong makes more than $5 million a year. He went 6-7 last season in his first season at Texas and his Longhorns (3-4, 2-2 Big 12) have won two straight games.

Strong has recruited the Miami area when he was an assistant at Florida and as head coach at Louisville.

Strong also said: ''Each and every week I'm the topic of conversation. Either they are ripping me or saying I lost my team or saying something.''
