TCU's Boykin not available at media day

Trevone Boykin was one of the big surprises of the 2014 season.

The TCU quarterback led the Horned Frogs to a share of the Big 12 title and a 12-1 record, including a bowl game win over Ole Miss.

Boykin is one of the top quarterbacks in the nation, an All-Big 12 pick for 2015 and the leading – according to Vegas – Heisman Trophy contender. Boykin was fourth in the Hesiman voting a season ago.

So, why wasn't he available for TCU's Media Day?

Boykin was in Dallas last month for the Big 12 Conference Media Days, but not in Fort Worth to meet the local media.

“Being where we sit and what we have been able to accomplish, as well as having a guy like Trevone Boykin, if he can play up to his potential and have the season we want him to have, we’ll probably win a lot more games than we’ll lose," TCU coach Gary Patterson told mysanantonio.com.

“He knows if we don’t win a lot of ball games, all of the rest of the hype doesn’t matter,” Patterson said. “He could throw for a gazillion yards and not win the Heisman Trophy if we go 6-6. We need to win as a football team.”

All good points by Patterson, but it would have been nice to hear Boykin's thoughts.
