Taylor Katoa Commits to 2017 USC Recruiting Class

Three-star linebacker Taylor Katoa out of Layton, Utah announced his commitment to the 2017 USC recruiting class on Thursday morning.

Fresh off a pair of de-commitments for the 2017 recruiting class, USC got some good news on Thursday when Tayler Katoa committed to the Trojans.

The player, who intends to enroll early in January, took to Twitter to make the announcement, posting a graphic with the caption, “Decision made. USC Bound. Excited for the next chapter of my life. FIGHT ON.”

He had been considering Washington and Utah for his college decision as well.

He is the No. 8 player in the state of Utah — a state USC has recruited particularly well over the years.

With Katoa in the fold, USC’s 2017 recruiting class is back up to 14 commits. De-commitments from linebacker Daniel Green and defensive lineman James Lynch had dropped the total down.

The Trojans recruiting haul this cycle is currently headlined by commitments from five-star running back Stephen Carr, four-star offensive tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker, four-star quarterback Jack Sears and four-star defensive end Hunter Echols.

Of course, recruiting is about the head up as Signing Day nears, though first, USC’s attention will be firmly on competing against Penn State in the 2017 Rose Bowl on Jan. 2.
