Talented 2016 QB down to four schools

Liberty Christian High School product Nick Starkel -- a one-time commitment to Oklahoma State -- has narrowed his college choice down to a final quartet of North Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, and Yale.

Rated as a 4-star quarterback by ESPN, Starkel is a player possessing terrific instincts and intelligence on the field. He has decent-to-good arm strength, and can deliver the ball effectively down the field. He won't wow anyone athletically, but Starkel certainly can evade pressure and move out of the pocket if need be.

His recruitment certainly will be interesting. Noel Mazzone had been recruiting Starkel to UCLA. However, via Bruce Feldman, it appears as if Mazzone will head over to become the new Texas A&M offensive coordinator.

Both UCLA and Texas A&M have severe depth problems at the position. Outside of Josh Rosen, the only other scholarship quarterback slated to be on the Bruins next year is incoming freshman Matt Lynch.

The Aggies will utilize Trevor Knight next year as a graduate transfer from Oklahoma -- with virtually Jake Hubenak being the only other option.

It will be fascinating to see how his recruitment unfolds.
