Tabary drives McNeese to 34-27 win over Alcorn State (Sep 16, 2017)
ALCORN STATE, Miss. (AP) James Tabary hit Kent Shelby on a 33-yard scoring strike with 26 seconds remaining in the game to give McNeese a 34-27 victory over Alcorn State on Saturday night.
McNeese (2-1), which is 12-0 against SWAC teams, led most of the way but Lenorris Footman hit De'Lance Turner in stride for a 70-yard touchdown to tie at 27-27 at the start of the final quarter.
Tabary was intercepted on the next series and McNeese's Calum Foster returned the favor, picking off Footman, as the Braves were driving. Neither team could mount another drive until Tabary took the Cowboys 62 yards in four plays to seal the win.
Tabary threw for 310 yards with four touchdowns as McNeese scored twice in the final quarter. Lawayne Ross hauled in five passes for 72 yards and Justin Pratt rushed for 114 yards on 13 carries.
Footman finished with 424 yards passing and three scores.
