Syracuse Football: The experts are predicting a bowl-berth for the Orange
The Syracuse football team is at .500 with four games to go in their season. But the experts already think the Orange are bowl-bound this season.
With the Syracuse football team at 4-4 with four games to go, a bowl berth is certainly a possibility for the Orange. While head coach Dino Babers has preached belief without evidence, he has shown evidence of what his team can do.
Not only has his team and fans started to believe, so have the experts apparently. ESPN writer, David Hale, in his ACC Week 8 bowl projection piece has slotted the Orange in one of his precious spots.
“Eric Dungey and Syracuse continue to impress, and the win against Boston College on Saturday gets the Orange — at least for now — into our bowl projections. They’ll still need two more wins, which might be tough given the remaining schedule, but Syracuse certainly has shown it’s capable of pulling off an upset, so the job isn’t impossible.”
Quick Lane Bowl:Syracuse Orange
There last four games are against some pretty decent competition: Clemson, Florida State, NC State, and Pitt. While the Orange could very well be haunted by their past, specifically the loss at Wake Forest in a very winnable game.
But the past is the past and the Orange have to keep their eyes forward. They have two weeks to prepare for the impossible task of traveling to Death Valley to play the cream of the crop in the ACC in the Tigers.
While our most recent Twitter poll asked the fans if they already consider this season a success. The fans barely leaned towards a yes. Which contradicts what happened before the season started. When we asked if the fans would prefer a skin on the wall over a bowl game. The majority of the fans picked a bowl game over the positives from a skin game.
If the Orange are able to win two of their final four. They’ll have the opportunity to accomplish both feats in year one under Babers, and that’d be pretty special.
