Sun Belt reprimands two replay officials

The Sun Belt Conference has reprimanded two of its replay officials after they failed to properly review calls in two separate games.

The conference did not identify the officials in its announcement Tuesday.

The Sun Belt said the replay official working on the Louisiana-Monroe-Arkansas State game last Thursday failed to stop play quickly enough to review a touchdown run when an Arkansas State player stepped out of bounds a couple yards from the end zone.

Also reprimanded was the replay official for the South Alabama at North Texas game on Saturday, who failed to overturn a fumble that was ruled on the field to have gone through the end zone. Video evidence showed the ball went out of bounds before crossing the goal line.

The two instant replay officials will be placed on probation and be removed from consideration to work in a bowl game.
